My photo REFUGEES IN BRUSSELS has been published in the latest issue of Fiction International. The theme of this issue is refugees. I immediately thought of this photo I took, when submitting. This photo was taken in 2019 when I was walking around the Grand Place in Brussels. I saw this man with his two children and he was smiling. I found it inspiring and asked him if I could take his picture and he said yes. I gave him some money I had in my wallet. it was the least I could do. But it was a very hopeful image as this man found it in himself to smile in his situation. Right now this is how many people from South America and the Sudan are ending up. Displaced and in a land not their home begging for food and money to survive. Hopefully they will have the demeanor of this gentleman.
