Art in Kibera
Kibera is endowed with a visual beauty, and a cultural multi-faceted community that is just being explored. Young men and women, armed with the current digital awareness, are taking the art scene of Kibera to a whole new level. Creating exhilarating entertainment spaces that can only be matched by few cities in Africa. Born and bred in this community, I've seen it grow from weekly police killings, and mob justice, and tribal feuds to a community that invites nothing else than peaceful and united interactions through out the various age-sets. What has greatly contributed to this from a young man's perspective, is the fact that young men are tired of being used and they just wanna create stuff for themselves. They do these through global varied influences and materials resulting to a mix of art that is deep in statesmanship and, hints a lot on personal freedom.
