I have been documenting San Francisco's unseen homeless since moving here in 2017. In one of the U.S.' wealthiest cities, there are over 8,000 unhoused people on any given day. The visible anonymity of people on the streets reflects the lack of dignity afforded them and reveals how desensitized our society has become to fellow humans in crisis.

With Covid-19, their plight is even more urgent. Unhoused individuals don't have access to safe shelter, and the City's lack of action is leading to serious and dangerous public health repercussions.

My goal with this project is to remind others that losing one's home shouldn't define a person, and homelessness is a crisis that our society can solve together.

While the individuals photographed may not have been experiencing homelessness when I photographed them, their images represent the 8,000+ who are.
