Uzbekistan's train system has been an essential mode of transportation in the landlocked country since the 19th century when the Russian empire first developed its rail network as far as the Caspian sea. While parts of Uzbekistan have had high-speed trains now for almost a decade, the eastern-most reaches still rely on old Soviet trains. These photos provide a glimpse into the everyday journey from Kokand to Tashkent.
