On the night of September 7, 2017, a magnitude 8.2 earthquake struck southern Mexico, severely affecting the Tehuantepec Isthmus area.

In 41 municipalities of the state of Oaxaca, there were heavy impacts, at least 57 thousand properties collapsed, leaving about 800 thousand victims and more than 90 dead due to this phenomenon.

Municipalities with the greatest impact were Juchitán, Unión Hidalgo, Ixtaltepec and Astata, which were assisted by rescue brigades, including "Los Topos" of Tlatelolco, and were assisted by young Central American migrants from different countries such as Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

La noche del 7 de Septiembre del 2017, un Terremoto de magnitud 8.2 sacudió el sur de México, afectando gravemente la zona del Istmo de Tehuantepec.

En 41 Municipios del estado de Oaxaca se presentaron fuertes afectaciones, al menos 57 mil inmuebles derrumbados, dejando cerca de 800 mil damnificados y más de 90 muertos debido a este fenómeno. 

Los municipios con mayores afectaciones fueron Juchitán, Unión Hidalgo, Ixtaltepec y Astata, mismos que recibieron la ayuda de brigadas de rescate, entre ellas “Los Topos” de Tlatelolco, y contaron con la ayuda de jóvenes migrantes centroamericanos provenientes de distintos países como Guatemala, Honduras y El Salvador.
