Since last year, I have been doing a reportage on diffuse poverty throughout Palermo's society. Sicily is considered one of the poorest regions in the EU with around 40% of the population on the total poverty line. The political situation in Italy and the abolition/conversion of the Citizen's Income has started a social crisis and put many families back into poverty. For the reportage, I focused on people/families who are in a situation of poverty but at the same time struggling to improve their situation and the difficulties to get out of a systematic poverty.
Disclaimer: For poverty is meant not only the economic aspect, but also the pre and post props to complete poverty eg: education, sanitary, familial relationship etc. So far I have covered homelessness, food bank, hostel, cold bus, also with little stories of the portrayed people and I start with families that although have a flat live in poverty.
