The Berlin district of Lichtenberg is almost always overlooked in descriptions of architecturally significant examples of modern building in the city. For this reason, the fact that important pioneering achievements of Neues Bauen can be found right here has remained hidden from the public eye: the "Sonnenhof" on Marie-Curie-Allee, the first large panelled houses in the Splanemann estate or the Max Taut School, all of which were built in the 1920s. New Building in Lichtenberg also includes the first P2 residential buildings with their 6 metre spanning ceiling slabs at Fennpfuhl, where the first large housing estate for 50,000 people was built from 1971. This Project is collected in a Book and an Exhibition. The publication is both an architectural guide and a reader for interested laymen and experts alike. It explains the different types of buildings and describes selected properties. A map with recommendations for walks, a bibliography and a list of people complete the full-colour volume.
The Archive is composed from around 1000 photos in Panorama format.
