Private Story
South
I started this chapter in late 2023, documenting the southernmost community of Canada and the surrounding region, when possible, by bike.
Like photographer Stephen Shore before me, I've discovered an aesthetically ordered vision of the everyday scenes and objects surrounding us. However, at this stage, I now wondered about the images and what subjects I should and should not include in the project. This chapter will be the most difficult as I can revisit a subject or location if I am not satisfied with the initial edit of images, as it is the area where I live.
The communities and back streets can be easily reached by bike, interconnected by an old railroad line. The Chrysler Canada Greenway is a 42 km-long rail trail system in Essex County connecting Windsor, Oldcastle, Kingsville, and Leamington, the focus of the chapter. The old branch line dates back to 1882, was built by Hiram Walker Distillery in Windsor, Ontario, and operated by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway until it closed around 1989.
