Since 2007, I have made biannual limited-edition portfolios known as the 10013 Collection, which document Tribeca's transforming landscape. It is New York City's first and last frontier, my obsession for the past twenty years.
The 2014 collection documents some of the most distinctive aspects of Tribeca only preserved through these photographs such as: the policeman standing with his horse West Broadway & White; the empty lot at 137 Franklin before the construction of Brandon Miller's building; the moonlit sky over Leonard Street before the rise of the NYLS Library. This year's collection is moody and emotional, as I watch what I love disappear in front of my eyes.
This work is 100% made with love. I labored on each print with my own hands. The photographs are different from the website scans. The beauty of silver gelatin, along with my secret almost-lost darkroom technique, give them a glow difficult to show on a screen. This selection was edited by Mary Ellen Mark and Jennifer Marrus, and includes 13 archival fiber photographs, and an additional gift print from the artist.
