Astrid was born at 2:40 am. She had the umbilical cord twisted twice around her neck, the midwives were ready to give her oxygen but there was no need: as soon as they took it off Astrid took a deep breath and let out her first cry, claiming her own life, with general goosebumps and emotion.

Finally mom and daughter can rest skin to skin and see each other for the first time face to face face. The baby stays on Luna's chest for a while, looking for her breast and learning how to suck.

This gallery shows some of the pictures I’ve taken by assignment during maternity time, understood as the period during pregnancy and shortly after childbirth. It describes the relationship of a mother to her children and the state it includes everything involved in becoming a mother, from being pregnant to giving birth and to have fun with your kid. A mother can become someone's mom in many ways.
