Every year, thousands of Sufis head to the shrine of Abu El-Hassan Elshazly seeking blessings and celebrating his birth. Elshazly was an influential Moroccan Islamic scholar and Sufi, founder of the Shadhili Sufi order. His shrine is located in the south eastern desert of Egypt where he died in 1258 while he was on his way to Mecca for the pilgrimage. Here are some random scenes from this year's celebrations of this Mawlid.

In the desert of the Red Sea, a thousand kilometers from Cairo, Abul-Hassan Al-Shazly is a spiritual leader and founder of the Shazleyah order of sufism, He is one of sufi’s main figures, the man died in the desert between mountains while going to Al Hajj in Mecca so the desert village of Humaithara mountain has founded over 100 years, Every year thousand of Sufis mostly from upper Egypt flock to commemorate the birth of Abul-Hassan, praying at the shrine and climbing the mountain of Humaithara, also the camps set up in the valley and praying for 10 days until Eid- Al-Adha which is tomorrow.
