In January 2016 the Cuban government following the distention of the relations with the United States engaged into opening up the use of Internet to its own population.

Three WI-FI spots where opened in Havana in three popular areas of the city. The price of the service varies between the legally established 3 CUC (3US$) an hour to the more popular and less legal 3 Cuban pesos (15 cents of a US$).

Cubans can now download films and be on social medias but also contact their families living abroad. Even if the Wi-Fi has been established by the government Cubans are still afraid of using it as they are in a public space.
