Mariah Tyes

A North Carolina native by way of Buffalo New York, Mariah Tyes began her photography journey at Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts, grades five through twelve. Growing up Mariah would watch her father capture their family in photos and home videos. At the age of ten, Mariah began to take photos of her own of friends at school, her family and all her surroundings. As a US Army Veteran, full time mother to her baby girl, Eden Oshun, and a full time student at FSU, Mariah makes time to execute personal concepts that celebrate unapologetic black beauty throughout her current works. Some notable achievements to mention include publication by Vogue Italia online (PhotoVogue), The Fayetteville Observer, Fayetteville State University Magazine, and the cover of She’s Single Magazine featuring Novi Brown from Tyler Perry’s hit show ‘Sistas’. Mariah plans to continue her education in museum/ gallery studies and become a prestigious Art Curator.
