Astrid Scheuermann (Born1993 in Panama City) is an award-winning writer, journalist, photographer and filmmaker based in Berlin.
Born and raised in two cultures (Germany and Panama), she developed her love for all kinds of storytelling from a very young age. She studied journalism and audiovisual production at Universidad Latina in Panama City from where she graduated with honours. Her photographic practice is centered around major topics such as cultural diversity, identity, collective memory, migration, conservation, resilience and inequality.
In September 2015, she moved to the United Kingdom to study a Master’s degree in Film, Photography, and Media at the University of Leeds, which she successfully completed with merit in December 2016.
Her short documentary film “1989” competed in several film festivals around the globe, earning prizes at three festivals.
She is currently developing a new short documentary film and working on long term documentary photography projects.
