Nitashia is a multimedia artist based in Dallas. She has a passion for creating and educating. She is an alum of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, TexasWoman's University, and the Rhode Island School of Design. Nitashia served as a student teacher during her time at RISD. Upon graduating, she taught full-time for a year in Rhode Island. After moving back to DFW, she taught part-time at One River School of Art + Design and served as an adjunct professor at Eastfield and Prairie View A&M University.

After founding The Smart Project, Nitashia has taught various courses for the organization, including photography and 2D design.In 2019, Nitashia was one of the five recipients of the inaugural Sony Alpha Female Creator-in-Residence program. She is the creator of The Self Publication collection, a photographic book series created to dismantle the stereotypes placed on those in the Black community.

In 2020, she was the inaugural recipient of the Juanita J. Craft House Artist Residency Project and took part in the Talley Dunn Gallery Equity in the Arts Fellowship. Her fine art photography work has been displayed in major cities, including Dallas, New York City, London, and Los Angeles. Nitashia has also worked as a freelance photographer and videographer for major news publications, including The New York Times, The Dallas Morning News, The Washington Post, CNN, Texas Monthly, and other organizations.
