I have been told stories in which the Virgin has fallen into a dream saving a dying devotee. I wonder what will become of her now; what her grandchildren will be like and if they will have gone to the funeral of her once resurrected grandmother.
I imagine the birds flying over the animals that arose from thirst and their owners from suicide.
I feel the dry earth penetrating my eyes.
He listened to stories from the valley and saw the water run again between stones thirsty for justice.
She crossed inert bridges,
I have seen hope standing.

Petorca (Valparaiso region), is the epicenter and place of reference for the water crisis that Chile is surviving. Between the theft of water for the mainly agricultural industry (avocado crops) and the lack of rain, this small town wanders between life and death and not in all cases leaving is an option.

This is a small record of documentary photographic portraits made in 2014 in the context of the religious festival of Our Lady of Mercy of Petorca, a festival that expresses the community's gratitude to its Patron Saint, mainly for the good harvests and the presence of rains.
He cruzado puentes inertes,
