Grown-up in Eritrea, I began photography as a self-taught artist while working in Africa and soon moved towards photoreportage, focusing on social photography.
Leaving Eritrea for political reasons, I have lived in France since 2009. 
Through a photographic narrative, I explore issues of social justice. My work focuses on the subjects of migration and exile but also more broadly on social, environmental, and geopolitical issues.
Awarded from the Society for News Design in 2018 for an appearance in the Washington Post for the story "survivors" about rescues in the Mediterranean.
Since 2019, National Geographic Explorer (grantee in 2019 and 2021) and notably led the "Forgotten Eritrean Refugees" story on the history of Eritrean refugees in camps in the Tigray region northern Ethiopia.
