Stealth Tower Project

Through my photography, I seek to revolutionize how the audience perceives the world.  In “Stealth Tower Project,” viewers are reminded how corporate marketers help us filter out information by disguising what they want us to see.

I am fascinated by the cleverness concealed in the urban panorama — cell phone towers disguised as palm trees, church towers, and cactus hidden in the midst of the mundane environment.  I am intrigued by this attempt to disguise, dupe, or trick the viewer.  Like a hunter when I photograph, I stalk my prey, seeking out the patterns and textures inherent in that which appears ordinary.  By choosing asymmetrical compositions, excluding cars and people, I’m able to emphasize the common thread and refocus attention on the irony intrinsic to the modern world.

Using my photography as a tool to reinvent how the world is seen, I feel successful when viewers recognize something that has been in front of their eyes the whole time.  I look for ways to juxtapose the incongruity of human intention with the humor of what actually happens.  I want people to stop and really LOOK — to see the subtle joke demonstrated in my photographs.
