Myanmar is a country that stays in our mind, essentially because of two things: people and landscapes. Also known as Burma, Myanmar became independent from the United Kingdom on 4 January 1948. The name of the country still causes a diplomatic incident that faces, on the one hand, the United Nations and the European Union and, on the other, The United Kingdom and the United States. Its political system has been under the control of the military since 1992, and in 2015 a new President of the Republic has been democratically elected. The diversity of the Burmese population means that, until now, Myanmar continues to face ethnic and religious tensions. In this sense, tourists are not allowed access to certain areas of the country. Traditionally influenced by Teravada Buddhism, the population of Myanmar in 2015 was about 54 million. From the old capital Yangon to the new capital Naypyidaw, passing Mandalay, Bagan, Inle Lake, Golden Rock, among many other reasons of interest, the country now begins to open to the outside.
