Summary
A tough piece about wildfire, global warming, and language
My first "news," I really have no idea about how much of this stuff works. This piece ran while I was following up my reporting on Paradise's destruction for the fifth anniversary of the Camp Fire two weeks ago. (Old news?)

It is much of what I'm thinking about as we face a 14% chance of making +1.5ºC over preindustrial atmospheric average temperatures, the US breaks oil export records this year (and likely next), and I work to reconcile reporting on the immolation of Lāhainā Town. How's that for a great sell?

In the ashes of Paradise and Lahaina, a veteran reporter searches for a new lexicon. Written by journalist and photographer J. Matt.
