Looking Over The Past
Gulu, Northern Uganda. This land is also known as Acholiland, due to the ethnic group which gathers most of the people who live there, called acholi.
They have suffered the consequences of a war that begun in 1987. Nowadays they are still struggling to get over these days and recover their lives.
These shots do not pretend to protrait the African reality. Nor even the Ugandan reality. They only try to reflectthe strenght of a way of looking reality, perhaps only given by the survival capacity. You can only look in that way if you are able to laugh with the simplicity of a child and, in the same breathe, talk with the composure of whom preserves inside an atavistic and mythic spirit.
