On the afternoon of 4 August 2020, two explosions occurred at the port of the city of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The second explosion was extremely powerful, and caused almost 205 deaths, 6,000 injuries, and US$10–15 billion in property damage, leaving an estimated 300,000 people homeless
Six months after the explosion at the Beirut port, Lebanon continues to face multiple and acute crises, with over half the population living below the poverty line and without a stable source of income.
