Near a hundred died and many are still missing. Imi N'Tala is located in the most affected region by the earthquake of magnitude 6.8 on the Richter scale, which shook the High Atlas area of Morocco.

Moroccan Earthquake, September 8th, 2023.

Morocco has a history of significant earthquakes, and the earthquake that took place shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023, marked the strongest to affect the region in more than a century. The tremor, with a magnitude of 6.8 on the Richter scale, shook the area located about 80 kilometers south of the city of Marrakech, in the High Atlas mountains of Morocco.

This earthquake has, so far, resulted in approximately thirty aftershocks with magnitudes greater than 3, according to reports from the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (CSEM). This organization has also noted a decrease in seismic activity in recent days. Tragically, the earthquake has claimed the lives of more than 2,950 people and injured another 5,600, devastating homes and buildings, and spreading terror among residents. According to United Nations estimates, approximately 300,000 people have been affected by this earthquake.
