International United Nations Volunteer midwife Nelly Njenga from Kenya at the Rumbek State Hospital. She has been working for UNFPA in Rumbek for the past 4 years. Certified Nurse Mathew Mading, a former student from Rumbek Health Sciences Institute at his pharmacy in Rumbek town. Mathew graduated in 2016 and ventured to open his own business, he also volunteers on night shift at Kiir Mayardit women’s Hospital.
Unfpa midwives Nelly Njenga and Wol Wol Daniel resuscitating a distressed baby at Kiir Mayardit women’s hospital maternity. The mother delayed at home and only came to the hospital when the baby was already distress. UNFPA team worked tirelessly to ensure the baby’s survival. The resuscitation was successful and a few hours latter the baby cried and started breastfeeding.
A newborn after a complicated delivery by UNFPA midwives. The mother who is also a grandmother already, delayed and only came to the hospital when the baby was distressed. This baby is her 8th child and needed a resuscitation that was successful, although the hospital had no power, oxygen basic medicine or clothes to keep the baby her baby dry. Thankfully, after a few stressful hours the baby girl cried and started breastfeeding.
