Absence
This project explores the story of 3 women with a word that resonates in common; absence. This symbiosis of stories is united by forced disappearance, migration, and family violence, which breaks ties and leaves gaps.
"Seeing the face of fear and approaching its source, crossing the line, even if it is confusing my place there, interpreting and feeling the other, feeds my own understanding. I am afraid, but an invisible touch pushes me and calls me to be there, gradually the shadows of my memory settle in my warmest days to tell me of the fears I live but ignore, that visit me daily with their slow and infinite flashes.
The ghosts that somehow populate all of us who share living in a place where going for a walk is a danger and being at home too, because anyone can come and turn off our life, in that space reality exceeds us and the only possible remedy is denial. To feel other lives, it is spectral and it is a gift".
Este proyecto explora la historia de 3 mujeres con una palabra que resuena en común; la ausencia. Esta simbiosis de historias se une por la desaparición forzada, la migración, y la violencia familiar, que rompe los lazos y deja vacíos.
“Verle la cara al miedo y acercarme a su fuente, cruzar la línea, aunque sea confuso mi lugar ahí, interpretar y sentir al otro, alimenta mi propia comprensión. Tengo temor, pero un tacto invisible me empuja y me llama a estar ahí, gradualmente las sombras de mi memoria se posan en mis más cálidos días para hablarme de los miedos que vivo pero que ignoro, que me visitan a diario con sus destellos lentos e infinitos.
Los fantasmas que de alguna forma nos pueblan a todos los que compartimos vivir en un lugar en el que salir a caminar es un peligro y estar en casa también, porque cualquiera puede llegar y apagar nuestra vida, en ese espacio la realidad nos excede y el único remedio posible es la negación. Sentir otras vidas, es espectral y es un don”.
