Thousands of protesters filled streets of London in defiance of COVID-19 restrictions to protest against killing of George Floyd, who died after a Minnesota police officer kneeled on his neck ignoring calls for help from the suffocating man. Video of the incident sparked massive uprising across the US and many world cities are joining the protest against perceived institutionalized racism in the American police and society. Londoners marched from Trafalgar Square to the US Embassy and kneeled while chanting 'I can't breathe' several times. Protest simmered till the evening hours when a standoff between a group of protesters and vast numbers of police officers ended with several arrests. More protests are planned in London for the coming week.
