Daniel Shular is a master's candidate for the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri - Columbia. Shular has a BFA in Photography from the University of Missouri - St. Louis and a degree in Graphic Design and Multimedia from East Central College.

Shular has worked as a freelance photojournalist covering politics and social justice movement events like the 2020 presidential election, the Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the reaction to the murder of George Floyd in 2020. His work has been included in gallery shows and his photos and videos have been published in the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, NBC, Insider and Spike Lee’s Oscar-winning feature film BlacKkKlansman.

Shular Is a photojournalism intern for MLive at the Grand Rapids Press, has worked at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch as a photojournalism intern, the Hartford Courant as a multimedia intern, and as a staff photographer and photo editor at the Columbia Missourian newspaper. Shular has also been a research assistant at the McDougall Center for Photojournalism Studies and the Photojournalism Hall of Fame. He has also volunteered for Pictures of the Year International (POYi) and College Photographer of the Year.
