Christoph Ackermann began his artistic career in his early teens with his initial form of self-expression being Graffiti art. From this starting point he has expanded his repertoire becoming increasingly involved with abstract contemporary art, graphics, calligraphy and photography. Numerous exhibitions have accompanied his career, such as the Kunstmuseum unser Lieben Frauen, the MDR Funkhaus or the Kunst/Mitte in Magdeburg, the Stroke Art Fair-the leading fair for new contemporary art in Munich, Dortmund and Portugal.
After graduating as a designer, he established himself as a self-employed freelance Artist from 2004 onwards working in his chosen fields of art, photography and graphic design. Since the late 1990s he has led workshops and art projects in schools, youth institutions and universities on the topics of art, urban art and photography. He was admitted to the Professional Association of Visual Artists Saxony-Anhalt by the admission committee on 5 April 2022, along with 17 other artists.
Ackermann’s Art work and methodology is based on a bipolar, philosophical approach: "Apollonian-Dionysian", which describes two opposing character traits of man and uses the qualities attributed to the Greek gods Apollo and Dionysus. Apollonian stands for form and order and Dionysian for intoxication and an urge to create that transcends all forms.
In 2016, together with Magdeburg artist Frank Borisch, he was one of the first tenants to move into the Q.Hof (Kunst und Handwerker Hof) in Magdeburg's Buckau district, thus founding the studio community in the "Q.", which has been working, organising exhibitions or curating in its studios there for 7 years.
