Andrea Hernández Briceño is a Venezuelan visual storyteller and National Geographic Explorer based in Caracas. She has a degree in Journalism from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. In 2018 she completed the Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism Program at the International Center of Photography in New York with the support of the Director’s scholarship. She was chosen as one of the 30 Under 30 Women Photographers of 2019 by Artpil, was included in PDN’s 30 New and Emerging Photographers to Watch list and in 20 Rising Female Photojournalists list by Artsy. At the end of 2019, Hernandez Briceño was a lecturer at the Foto Cultura festival in Colombia, a mentor at the 20 Fotógrafos Workshop in Guatemala, a student at the Women Photograph Workshop in Quito and was a finalist for the Alexia Foundation Professional Grant. She is also an IWMF Adelante Fellow. Hernández Briceño covers a wide range of issues that touch everything related to the social sphere, specializing in women’s rights. She works regularly with The Washington Post, El País and Buzzfeed News. She has also collaborated with The New Yorker, Time Magazine, National Geographic LA and El País Semanal.
