Trapped is a series of photographs of motorbike riders that aims to capture the pauses that occur throughout a day of commonplace tasks. These portraits were candidly shot, with no awareness of the photographer on the part of the subject. Shooting with a 50mm lens forced me to closely approach my subjects, allowing me to project my own perceptions as a rider upon them. Sharing the commonality of the road, they are stopped at a traffic light: trapped in time and amidst their own thoughts. These moments shared with other riders, paradoxically, render them isolated from one another, as they wander momentarily into the solitude of their own meditations. These fleeting moments remain with us but only a few seconds before being lost. A meaningful pause in time which remains eternal upon being captured by the camera.
