The border region of Uzbekastan and Kazastan is busy with trade and transactions , legal and otherwise. The markets are set up in the parking lots, sidewalks, and squares and last until the police come and clear out the ones without the right permit. While awaiting a Visa approval, I was able to observe some of the many layers of commerce at the border. In "Transaction at the Border #1" three people exchange currency to complete a transaction. In "Transaction at the Border #2", the buyer is clearly not buying watermelons, nor is the seller selling watermelons. In "Transaction at the Border #3" Two ladies haggle over grapes on a busy Sunday sidewalk.
