While spending a year living in Spain outside Madrid we had easy access to Morocco and I was very intrigued by the history of Fez. So we made a trip down in which I became infatuated with the raw beauty of the oldest leather souq (tannery) in the world. It did not take a short period of time to adjust to the stench of flesh, lye, vinegar and much more. However the colors and textures available to document were truly amazing. I am planning another trip back here where I will spend much more time with the souq workers and perhaps their families documenting how their daily lives revolve around this ancient and dangerous occupation.
