I currently work for the Head On Photo Festival in the core team. Out side of the 9-5 I am a practicing phorographer who is either working on my own personal project or working as a freelancer.
Stephen completed a Bsc Mathematics (Hons) in ’05 and undertook PhD studies between 2006 -15 while he held an Associate Lecturing position before he followed his passion for photography.
He is is a Sydney based photo-media artist and has exhibited his work in several galleries and institutions. Highlights include State Lib of New South Wales ('13), University of Technology ('12, '14), Sydney, Australian Centre of Photography ('16), 10x8 ('14), eleven40 ('12), Depot Gallery ('16).
He has curated several exhibitions "The end of the begging" 10x8 gallery (2014), "Tabla Rasa" Contact Sheet 2015, and 4 exhibitions as part of the Head On Photo Festival 2017.
In his duties for the Head On Photo Festival he has produced (resize, colour managed, prepared for print) over 50 exhibitions for local and international artists.
During the 2016 Head On Photo Festival he was the ‘lead installer’ at two major venues which involved over 20 bodies of work which included. Out side of the festival Stephen is a freelance installer who has installed for several notable local and international photo-media artists.
Stephen is a figure in the local photographic community who engages with photographers at all levels. Using his networks which includes a social media following of over 100,000, he has lead photo walks and ran street photography workshops in Sydney. Currently he is a founder of "Unfinished Photo Night". The event attracts 50 photographers 4 times a year to share current photo media projects, discuss the industry and provides a space for photographers and curators to meet and collaborate.
