Army Youth is a research about the life and the expectations of twenty-years old boys and girls who choose military life and mission abroad.
It’s a research focused on a gap, the empty space between two worlds that rarely come in contact. And it’s precisely within this distance that I wanted to work. The distance between the imagery and the reality, between being considered an hero and becoming an adult, between heading to the conflict and waiting to get back home.
Army Youth is part of a series on a suspended generation.
This work has been developed in 2011, following young soldiers first in Italy and then in Southern Lebanon, for the UNIFIL mission.
