Personal statement

Approaching photography for the very first time in 2008, my work derived from my intention to express my inner feelings and emotions, to shape an expression for them. It was, somehow, a sort of explosion that surrounded my head and my soul, and which has afterwards become a permanent struggle to make it more "human” and articulate. It was later that I have realized that I was trying to understand life instead of living it. I began by shooting conceptual photography and experimental portraiture in my hometown, Dorohoi, Romania before moving to Bucharest to continue my studies.
I like to create stories with an underlying sense of narrative, to introduce elements of the past and present in my projects.  I am interested in the authenticity of a moment,  in the relation between a human being and the space around him.
