My photography career began in 2000 when I was hired by the Ontario Government to photograph ecclesiastical buildings in North Glengarry County, Ontario, Canada. My endeavours in the medium have been anything but linear; a degree in English Literature at the University of Toronto and a decade working abroad in South Korea and Japan followed.
I focus on the exploration of the built, urban environment, but also the people and landmarks that compose the unique landscapes of the places I live, work and wander. In my photography I passionately explore the physical and emotional relationships we have with our built environment and how we interact with each other in these artificial spaces.I was formerly represented by Agora Gallery in New York City. I was a part of an exhibition entitled "Illumination" at Agora Gallery in 2014. I was also published in ARTisSpectrum Vol.33 for my project New York At Street Level. I currently have two titles for sale through Blurb.ca. One is "Another Man's Gold," about recycling in Toronto's Annex Neighbourhood. The other is New York @ Street Level, a street photography experiment I funded through Kickstarter.
I currently live in Canada. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to drop me a line at email@example.com.
Sincerely, Spencer McCall.
