I explore Finnish freshwater underwater landscapes. The underwater world is barren, ancient and mystical. When I am in the water, I relax and become one with another world—a world that has always been very close, but still far away—the concept of time changes. There is only now, breathing and observation. From the shore, you can see the surface of the water in its entirety, but beneath awaits a great mystery. I want to bring out the unseen silent world in my work.

My underwater photography process is simply point and shoot. I am exploring the unknown with childlike curiosity, and my goal is to convey emotions or raise questions with my work.
