Private Story
Love Wins (Covid-19) ongoing
Residents of Jackson Heights in Queens line up to receive groceries from Love Wins Food Pantry a diverse group of volunteers that rely on the generous support of donors and partners to provide fresh vegetables and non-perishable items in a safe space to LGBTQ and gender non-conforming community and all Queens neighbors in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
What initially started as a community-based, collective effort for the LGBTQ community of Queens has organically grown into a larger movement to address food insecurity among all of our neighbors, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or immigration status. These NYC neighborhoods are home to a community that is 88% people of color, 2/3 foreign-born, majority low-income, working-class, undocumented essential workers. Every Friday around 400 to 600 people line up.
