Summary
Enclave is an ongoing project that explores the relationships between identity and territory in the border city of Melilla, between Europe and Africa
Enclave / 2021 (Ongoing)

Border areas are contradictory spaces. They are entrance and exit doors, of beginnings and endings, of certainty and ambiguities. They are also limits and bridges. Melilla is located between Europe and Africa, in the south of Spain and in the north of the Rif. After conflicts and alliances, it was populated by inhabitants from both shores of the Mediterranean. Today its inhabitants, which the majority are descendants of settlers with Spanish, Amazigh and Arab roots, live together and inhabit a city surrounded by the sea and the fence. Melilla is a kind of limbo that unites and separates at the same time, located between two worlds and nowhere. Between two continents the identity of this border is being defined, which is a sort of island marked by confinement and desires for openness.
Enclave / 2021 (En proceso)
