WordShedNYC is a social project built on an all-inclusive platform for writers and artists of all backgrounds to gather and celebrate diversity and creative renewal.
Leah Kogen-Elimeliah is a poet, essayist, short story, and nonfiction writer from Moscow, currently living in New York City. She is an MFA candidate at City College of New York, Founder of WordShedNYC Reading Series, and an Editorial Associate for Fiction literary magazine. Her writing focuses on identity, language, sexuality, and culture. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and their children.
Kristine Esser Slentz is from northwest Indiana and the Chicagoland area. She is a Purdue University alum who double majored in English Literature and Creative Writing. Thereafter, Kristine spent seven years working in the digital marketing field specializing in content development and strategy. Recently, she earned her MFA in Creative Writing (poetry) from City College of New York (CCNY) where she is currently an English Department adjunct. In the past four years, she has had more than 40 poems published, along with various personal essays, reviews, and interviews. Publications of her work have appeared or are forthcoming in Glass Poetry, Pink Plastic House, The Shallow Ends, Moonchild Magazine, Yes Poetry, Crab Fat Magazine, Philosophical Idiot, Barren Magazine, The New Southern Fugitive, and Flying Island Journal where she received a 2017 Pushcart Prize nomination. Kristine has also been a finalist in the 2020-21 Glass Poetry Chapbook Contest, Spring 2020 Flash Fiction Contest finalist for F(r)iction, received a CCNY English Department Teacher-Writer Award, and will be completing a writing residency with Poets Afloat this April.
