“What Lies Beneath” is a project about taking time for what we never take time for. We are over stimulated and easily distracted, we live in an age where there is too much of everything but never enough time, we rarely stop to think about the tiny details in the world; we miss out. This project is meant to bring attention to all that lies beneath our superficial observations, what is not right in front of our faces, the things we have to look for in order to find. We have to stop to see.

Beyond capturing an image, I capture an emotion. I seize the quiet moments in life -- those that usually go unnoticed and only last a few seconds before disappearing forever. I make those moments last eternally so that the feelings come back every time you look at the image. I seek to expose the splendor unseen in the shadows and the surprise of first encounters. I convey the beauty beneath the light.

I photograph at night when I am away from my natural environment so I can slowly discover, peeling off its layers until I find its raw essence. Sometimes, the feeling is soothing; other times I feel haunted and disturbed. I take the time to recognize the site and the thoughts generated to take a picture that captures all of its merit.
