Veteran Navy rescue diver Amanda Burrill was injured during a fall while deployed in Iraq. When she returned to civilian life she noticed that she was not returning to her normal self. Burrill's motor skills, reading ability and memory were a few of the changes she experienced as a result of her her head injury. After suffering years of misdiagnoisises at the VA Hospital, Burrill was finally informed that the was suffering due to a traumatic brain injury.

I will continue to photograph Burrill throughout her recovery, including her inpatient treatment at the Marcus Institute for Brain Health (MIBH). The MIBH provides speciality services to veterans suffering with brain injuries and their coinciding effects including post-traumatic stress, depression and anxiety.
