Hassan Omar Wamwayi, a 21 year old Kampala born artist who found a voice through photography. Hassan Omar's body of work normally targets issues related to survival, gender, migration, equality and justice and the everyday life of children living in the East African atmosphere.
Growing up in an extended and artistic family, Hassan Omar Wamwayi at 16 years took a step forward to start up on a personal journey that landed him in the mysterious world of photography using it as a therapy for proper growth according to the nature of the area he grew up from. Hassan Omar's photographs and projects majorly tackle gender, human rights identity and migration issues.
Hassan Omar Wamwayi uses photography to bring up positive social change through documenting people and their different roles in society that bring up the change for the better.
Hassan Omar Wamwayi's photography achievements can be traced through his accomplishment of assignments, successfull completion of photography workshops, an award for best artistic photographer that was handed to him on the 12th of December 2019 by Alliance Francaise Kampala and recent honourable mention in the Uganda press photography awards He is an avid researcher and a few of his notable works have been published in the Skillz East Africa magazine and website.
Hassan Omar Wamwayi is currently in public practice documenting people and their roles to them, and their societies in Kampala Uganda where he stays with his family.
