When I was four we left Norway for California. When I was six we moved back. When I was 19 I moved back to California. When I was 24 I moved to New York City and when I was 28 I moved to Alaska. When I was 29 I moved back to Norway, but met a Canadian and when I was 35, baby in tow, I moved to Canada where I live now. I have lived half my life in North America, speak English as if I belong here and everyday I miss home. I miss the way the ocean spray feels like needles on my face in the winter and how the sun never sets in summer. I miss hearing my language spoken around me, and sometimes seeing my flag makes me cry. Yet I love everything about living in North America, my life here is beautiful. This work is about being homesick and is an ongoing project.
