Soccer has never been a sport I paid attention to. Whether it is the boys playing at the church compound at sundown or the FIFA world cup. But football comes with a fever. You can ignore the game but the euphoria can be difficult to miss. This ongoing photo series takes me on a journey to discover an important element of the game, the fans. Inside the popular stands, you find a sideshow of jubilation and heartbreaks. Friendships begin and rivalries are fuelled. As score lines remain recorded in history, 'The Twelfth man', hopes to document the stories outside the margins of the soccer pitch. The football fan anticipating a win at all cost. Sometimes a draw.
