Collected idols of Ganesha litter the beach after the traditional Ganapati Visarjan in Mumbai during the annual 10-day festival celebrtaing the Elephant God on September 13, 2019. Idols such as this one will be immersed into the sea on the tenth day of the festival. Around 150,000 idols are set up around the city in community centers and people's homes for worship. Throughout the festival nearly a million people a day will visit arguably the most popular pandal, the Lalbaughcha Raja in the heart of the city. They will offer Ganesha his favorite modak sweets, a type of sweet rice dumpling, and donations in the form of cash, gold and silver.
