Private Story
Asleep at the Wheel
The series of photographs is a collaboration focused on family and mental health. The photographs are a personal exploration of how each person’s family history affects us throughout our lives. This experience although different for each of us is a universal human experience. Each subject in the series is part of my family. The family history of physical and mental illness is woven together in a narrative that asks: What do we hand down to each generation? How are we shaped by family and home? The concept of “home” is a fundamental part of the work. It not only represents the physical domestic space but also the body as “home”.
