It is not easy for Deaf people to socialize, open up, and express what they feel. They are the same, they are equal, only the way of communicating is different. Through language and art, they freely express what they want.
This series of portraits is part of the 2022 Yogyakarta Cultural Festival (Festival Kebudayaan Yogyakarta). The medium collage was chosen because it wanted to explore the abilities of deaf friends who are heedful to respond to visuals. From this approach, they can tell stories about what they see from the portraits of their friends around them.
