Parallel Destinations

A shelter from the sun on the Rockaway Beach, New York, takes on an inspiring geometric, minimalist shape, accentuated by airplanes taking off from or approaching nearby JFK airport. The parallel beams converge and diverge, intuiting departures and arrivals.

The planes flying over the Rockaways have always intrigued me, conveying a sense of nostalgia, distant or recent memories, a question mark. I pursue a minimalist geometric approach capturing the planes coupled with the beach sun shading beams. For the colors of the sky, and the airplane and beams, I have chosen colors from my childhood years when my parents traveled frequently. The colors are those of my toys which I still vividly recall.
