She works with a team of talented photographers, reporters, and producers to select, edit, and present images that capture the essence and context of the news. She also contributes to the digital and social media platforms of NBC News and MSNBC, enhancing their online presence and engagement.

Briana Ellis-Gibbs has a strong background in journalism, arts, and culture, which informs her creative and critical approach to photography. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Journalism from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, where she specialized in arts and culture reporting. She has written extensively on photography, history, and art for various publications, such as The Wall Street Journal, The Brooklyn Rail, Hyperallergic, and more. Additionally, she is a photo workshop teacher at Press Pass NYC, where she mentors and educates high school students on the ethics and practice of photojournalism. She has received multiple honors and awards for her work, including the Anne O’Hare McCormick Memorial Scholarship, the Ralph and Fanny Ellison Scholarship, the NABJ Salute to Excellence Award, and the Mark J. Edelson Picture Editing Scholarship.
